leave the bangs out and cut it at razor sharp edges or leave it in a braid or plaid

sidebangs are definetly in and with that do long layers or you can do the classic original chunky layers thatwould look nice

OK... how do i explain this. Well.. i recently got my hair cut and i got it layered. I got layers that went up about an inch or two. I wouldn't go over a couple of inches because it will look weird. Then i got a few long bangs (long enough to go behind my ear, yet short enough to be bangs) that blended in with the rest of my hair. With the hair cut that i got it made the layers look poofy. it really looks cute! i would suggest that you try this! hope that is helps! O yeah... for the layers, each layer had different lengths. i hope that it makes sense! o yeah my hair is medium/ long (just below my shoulder)
